So, you are going to drive the Highway West - What will you discover?
Your trip starts at Penrith at the western end of the Cumberland Plain then heads on up via the Great Western Highway through the Blue Mountains to Katoomba, Blackheath, Mt Victoria and down through the Hartley Valley to Lithgow. A nice detour before Bathurst is a visit to Portland, Wallerawang & Cullen Bullen and then onwards and a gentle climb through Yetholme (the highest point on the Great Western Highway) to Bathurst then out on the Mitchell Highway to Orange. Then head onwards along the Escort Way/Forbes road to Forbes and diverting through Manildra to Parkes.
